Valuing Impacts of Water Consumption: Paddy Irrigation in Taiwan
One way to evaluate “Sustainability” is by quantifying the relationship between economic growth, resources consumption, and environmental impacts. Therefore, assessing environmental impacts becomes an important task.
In this short talk, Dr. Lin will talk about how she conducted an impact assessment of water consumption. Then, a case study in Taiwan will be used to demonstrate the water consumption impacts of paddy irrigation. This talk aims to provide a more comprehensive evaluation viewpoint for sustainable development.

Dr. Zih-Ee Lin is a Post-doctoral fellow in the Graduate Institute of Environmental Engineering at National Taiwan University. She has expertise in the methodologies of life cycle assessment (LCA). Currently, her research focuses on applying LCA to water resource management and the circular economy in agriculture.
Optimal Management of Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas: From Monitoring to Smart Management
This research presents a smart rainwater harvesting (RWH) system to address the water security in arid and semi-arid areas. This system aims at improving the water harvesting capacity through the use of a shared harvesting system at the neighborhood level and digital technology.

Mr. Tariq Judeh is a PhD student in the Laboratoire Génie Civil et Géo-Environnement (LGCgE) in Lille University. His research focuses on ststainable water supply. Mr. Judeh has published several research articles related to rainwater harvesting system for domestic and agricultural use.
